The lecturers and participants focused on the pathology of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
Medip’s new business premises allowed us to hold two more workshops: on the new service premises, participants learned about the composition of the endoscope, the process of repairing endoscopes, preventing damage to them… Intensive questions and comments showed that users were surprised by the complexity, technological sophistication and miniaturization that the “black tube” hides.
The second workshop enabled practical work with instruments on animal tissue that provide hemostasis in endoscopy – monopolar and bipolar electrocoagulation probes, argon plasma probe, clips, Purastat gel, loops, biopsy forceps…
The new MIKOTO simulation model attracted particular attention. Participants tested their colonoscopy skills on it. They had to reach with the colonoscope the cecum in a limited time and then find all lesions and polyps when withdrawing it. MIKOTO documents and evaluates every movement of the endoscopist through external and internal video and internal sensors. This allows for analysis and improvement of the endoscopist’s technique.
